Program Implementation Tips

Get out your calendar and write down when to start each phase and what to take each morning and evening.

Place the Cleanse Phase instruction sheet on your refrigerator, and set out the components for the next day in an obvious place, so that you will see them and be reminded to take them.

It may be best to start the program on a Saturday, as that lets you start on the weekend, when you have a bit more time to start implementing the program.  It’s a ‘gentle’ cleanse program, but since it’s purposed is to clean out toxins from your body, they will be eliminated.

It’s important to take each part of the program at the specific time for optimal results.  If you miss taking one item,
then just extend the program by a day and take that product at the specified time the next day.

Make the program more fun and effective by getting an accountability partner or group to do the program with you.

Have you addresses the emotional reasons why you overeat?

Inside every person who isn’t happy with their body weight is someone who still has some emotional stuff to work out.

Get some support from friends, family or professionals. Find out WHY you tend to overeat.

Explore your habits and behavioral patterns. Are there certain things that trigger over-eating?

Do you have the support of your family and friends?

It’s very important to discuss your goals with your immediate family and get their support. If you’re trying to lose weight, they need to refrain from baking cookies and filling the house with that aroma, for example. They need to verbally support your efforts and not tease you or discourage you. Have a serious talk before you begin.

Have a reason WHY you wish to achieve the best weight for yourself

You need an emotional “anchor” to give you the behavioral leverage to get there.

Are you losing weight to feel better about yourself? To improve your longevity? To be more physically attractive? To compete with a sibling or friend? To go to a class reunion or wedding?

Figure out your top reason for wanting to achieve your weight goals and use that reason as leverage to guide you in that direction.

Focus On Improving Your Lifestyle, Not Dieting

Restricting calories in order to try to lose weight won’t work long-term. Your body’s top priority is to preserve your life and when it senses that it’s not getting enough nutrients, it will hold onto it’s long-term energy source > your fat.

This can cause your body to shed lean muscle and adjust your hormones to  lower your metabolic rate, which is why people who yo-yo diet can end up with a “slow” metabolism.

Women should eat at least 1200 calories a day, and men should eat at least 1500 calories a day.

Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal Of The Day For Weight Loss

Your body needs a certain amount of protein every day to perform repairs and support your lean muscle.

If you skip breakfast or just have carb foods for breakfast, then your body is starving for protein, because it has gone from dinner to lunch the next day without protein.  That is 17 hours out of a 24-hour day (7pm – noon).

If it doesn’t get enough protein, it will rob protein from your muscles, which can reduce your metabolic rate.

And when you skip breakfast, you’re more likely to overeat at lunch to compensate.

Eggs are great for breakfast.  Soy protein or the small amounts of protein in peanut butter and nuts does not support muscles effectively.  Bacon and sausage have protein but way too much fat.

After the age of 30, our bodies naturally start losing lean muscle, so our metabolic rate slows down.

Increase Your Metabolic Rate To Increase Your Fat Burning

Cardiovascular exercise is great for burning calories.  That said, instead of just exercising in the supposed “fat-burning” zone for 45-minutes, try cycling your intensity up in four 5-minute cycles.

Steady cardio only burns a certain number of calories ‘during’ the exercise. When you cycle the intensity up in 5-minute cycles, you cause your body to not only burn calories during the exercise, but also after the workout, which can create a higher overall calorie-burning effect.

Whatever exercise you’re doing, increase the intensity every minute, so that by the 5th minute you’re pushing really hard, for a perceived exertion level of 9 (on a scale of 1 to 10).  Repeat this process for the 2nd and 3rd cycle, and on the last cycle, push to a level 10 where you’re out of breath.

This improves cardiovascular conditioning, increases metabolic rate for the next few hours, and honestly, makes cardio exercise more interesting.

Are you exercising yet?

Aim for a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise every day to start dropping pounds. This can be brisk walking, swimming,  cycling or weight training.

Weight-lifting helps increase your lean muscle and strengthens your bones

Cardiovascular exercise is great for burning fat and for heart health, but weight-bearing exercises support your lean muscle. and bone strength and health.

Many gyms have classes that incorporate weights and cardiovascular exercise.

Weight-lifting won’t make you bulky unless you’re really trying by lifting very heavy weights.

Sometimes women start working out and their leg muscles become firmer, so their jeans start fitting tighter, and they panic and stop weight training exercises.

Changing your body composition is a process and you just need to give your body time to increase lean muscle and fat-burning, so that the inches will come off.

Drink Lots of Water

Not drinking enough water can impair your bodies ability to remove toxins and remove fat effectively.

Your body is 60% water and it needs replenishment every day.

Your body’s priority is to preserve your life and when you don’t drink enough water, it can cause water retention problems and health challenges.

Take a water bottle with you everywhere you go, so that it’s easy to drink through the day.

A word of caution:  Use a quality water filter for all of your drinking water, as tap water has chlorine, fluoride and other toxins in it, which compromise your health.

Avoid Sodas

Regular sodas have sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, which adds empty calories.

Diet sodas make your body think that it’s getting calories, so it prepares your body to handle them, and then when it doesn’t get the calories, it sets up your body to start craving them again.

All sodas have acidic ingredients in them that cause your body to become acidic.  Your body is designed to maintain an optimal pH level, so in order to counter the acidic effects of a soda, it robs calcium from your bones to buffer the acid.
The end result is that you reduce the calcium in your bones which may lead to osteoporosis.

Grocery Shopping

The general rule is to shop on the outsides edges of the grocery store where the fruits and vegetables, meats and diary/eggs are located.

Are you consuming enough fresh fruit and vegetables? Are you juicing yet? You’ll want to do both of these things on a regular basis.

The aisles mainly contain packaged foods that are highly processed and have preservatives to increase shelf life.  There are exceptions liked canned tuna, but for the most part, products in the aisles don’t have great nutritional value.

The frozen food aisles are full of frozen dinners, ice cream and other high-calorie, low-nutrition options, and should be avoided.  The exceptions are frozen fruits and vegetables.

Cheat Day

If you setup your new healthy lifestyle plan to totally give up all of the foods that you love… you will most likely fail at keeping your plan.

You crave what you can’t have.  You’ll feel deprived.  And at some point will give in and indulge… maybe way too much.
This can cause you feel like a failure and remove your incentive to keep trying.

So to avoid that from happening, setup one day a week that you budget in some of your favorite foods.  Eat some pizza, have some ice cream, whatever you love.  Just don’t eat too much of it and make it part of your meal plan for the day, so that your total daily calorie intake remains the same.

What You Will Notice When You’re Done With The AdvoCare Cleanse
